R. S. Slack [BA (Hons), Liverpool; PhD, Manchester] is currently Research Fellow in the Research Centre for Social Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. Currently engaged in a study of the social shaping of multimedia technology. He has also been Research Fellow at the University of Glamorgan and the Open University in Wales. His research interests lie within ethnomethodology and conversation analysis; the philosophy of the social sciences; the study of scientific practices and accounts; and the realisation of accounts of complex system failures.
