Mariah Jade Zimpfer is a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Edinburgh. She is currently working on a Doctoral dissertation that examines the creation and maintenance of social and cultural capital in the Appalachian region of the United States. Some of her publications include entries into various encyclopedias such as 'Multicultural America-a Multi-media Encyclopedia', 'Handbook of Texas', and a book review in 'Drugs: Education, Prevention, and Policy'.

Orla Meadhbh Murray is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Edinburgh. Her past research has focused on identity politics in UK higher education, activism, feminist theory and methodology and the work of Dorothy E. Smith. Her PhD research will look at changing conceptualisations of the ‘value’ of knowledge in UK higher education.

Martina Karels is a doctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh. In her research she explores the performance of public remembrance surrounding 9/11 with special attention to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City. In further research she focuses on notions of adult play as social performance.
