Claudia Mitchell
Claudia Mitchell is a James McGill Professor in the Faculty of Education of McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and an Honorary Professor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her research looks at youth and sexuality in the age of AIDS, children's popular culture, rurality, girlhood, teacher identity, memory work and the use of participatory visual and other arts-based methodologies in strategic areas of gender and HIV&AIDS in social development contexts . She is the co-founder and co-editor of the award winning journal, Girlhood Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal and author and co-editor of a number of books including Doing Visual Research.

Naydene de Lange
Naydene de Lange currently holds the newly established HIV and AIDS Education Research Chair at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Her research focuses on visual participatory methodologies in addressing gender and HIV&AIDS. She is first editor of the book, Putting People in the Picture: Visual Methodologies for Social Change as has also co-authored a book, Picturing Hope.
