Cas Wouters
CasWouters is senior researcher at Utrecht University and staff member of the ASSR (Amsterdam School of Social Science Research) of the University of Amsterdam. He has studied twentieth-century social and psychic processes, focusing on the regimes of manners and emotions in relationships between classes, sexes, and generations, and interpreted as a process of informalization. These studies resulted in numerous articles and books. Two recent books resulted from an extensive study of changes in German, Dutch, English and American manners books: Sex and Manners: Female Emancipation in the West 1890 - 2000 (Sage 2004) and Informalization: Manners and Emotions since 1890 (Sage 2007).
