Gabe Mythen is Principal Lecturer in Sociology at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has been working in the area of public understandings of risk for several years, publishing articles on various risk issues, including new terrorism, GM Foods and BSE. His monograph Ulrich Beck: a Critical Introduction to the Risk Society (2004) is published by Pluto Press and he is crrently co-editing a multi-disciplinary text with Sandra Walklate entitled Beyond the Risk Society. The edited collection will be published by McGraw-Hill in Spring 2006.
